In a heartbreaking turn of events, tragedy has struck Panza Island, located in the Kusini District of Pemba, Zanzibar. Eight children have lost their lives, while another 78 have been hospitalized after consuming fish of the Kasa variety.
Dr. Haji Bakari Haji of the local hospital confirmed the admission of these patients on Tuesday, March 5th of this year.
One of the parents, Miza Kombo Bakari, who tragically lost her children, recounted the harrowing experience of finding them violently ill and rushing them to the hospital before it was too late.
